Man dies in hospital following fight

A man has died following a fight outside a Cobb and Co restaurant in Upper Hutt.

Police say an altercation broke out at around 9.30 last night, resulting in a man being taken to hospital.

He died later.

However police are yet to confirm whether his death was a result of his injuries or a medical condition.

Meanwhile a man is nursing injuries after being stabbed in Wellington early this morning.

Police say he was on the corner of Wakefield Street and Cambridge Terrace when he was stabbed just before 2 o'clock.

His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
