A 42-year-old man has died while working under his house in Auckland.
The accident happened about 10.15am at a property on Chalmers St in the suburb of Avondale, northern police communications acting Inspector Danny Mead said.
"He was under his house and his partner heard a noise," he said.
"It could've been he banged his head, had a heart attack, gas leak, electrical shock - it's not clear at the moment."
Mr Meade said the house had recently undergone renovations and Department of Labour investigators had been called in to see if there any issues with the wiring.
