A man died on Auckland's Southern Motorway early this morning after losing control of his car and hitting a barrier.
Police communications Acting Inspector Shane Mulcahy said there was a substantial amount of roadworks in the area which may have contributed to the crash.
A small section of road was closed near the Manukau offramp from 4.20am until about 8am.
Mr Mulcahy said the crash had little impact on traffic flows as vehicles were able to divert up the offramp, then head back down the other side and rejoin the motorway.
