Man dies in accident on way to hospital

A 43-year-old Thames man died on his way to Waikato Hospital yesterday after a crash north of Cambridge.

Police say the man was driving north. It is thought his car clipped the rear of a southbound truck and was then involved in a head-on crash with another car.

The crash happened about 2km north of the Hautapu dairy factory. The male driver of the other vehicle was treated for minor injuries at the scene.

The dead man's name has not yet been released.
