Police in South Auckland have launched a homicide inquiry into a man's death eight days after a party.
Richard Hamilton, 35, from Otara, died in hospital yesterday. He received head injuries at a party in Otara on March 18 but police said they were not called and did not know if he was hurt in a fight or fell over.
Police said an ambulance was called to the Perth Street address and Mr Hamilton was taken to Middlemore Hospital and then to Auckland Hospital where he died yesterday morning.
Police said they were contacted after the man's death and a post mortem was done yesterday.
A scene examination at the Perth Street address was being completed.
Police spokeswoman Angeline Barlow said police wanted to hear from anyone who was at the party.
