A man died after a crash in Morningside this morning.
It is understood he was driving a van that lost control at high speed, and ploughed into a childcare centre on Inwood Street at 6.15am.
He was taken to Auckland City Hospital with status 1 critical injuries and died soon after. He was the only person in the van.
The police Serious Crash Unit are examining the scene and an investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
The childcare centre was closed at the time.
