A man has died in a tree felling incident near Hokitika on the West Coast.
A St John Ambulance spokesman said an ambulance was sent to a house on Woodstock-Rimu Rd in the small town of Ruatapu after they were alerted about 3.45pm.
The ambulance arrived to find a man in his 60s with critical injuries. He died at the scene.
The spokesman said the man was injured in a tree felling accident.
Police also attended.
