North Otago man seriously injured in a jetboating accident on the Waitatoto River near Haast on Friday night has died.
He was named today as Roualeyn Munro, 62, of Otematata.
Police search and rescue were called to the scene, 25km south of Haast, about 7pm on Friday.
Four people in the private jetboat were travelling upriver with three other boats when one of the boats hit a rock and flipped, throwing all of the occupants into the river.
All were wearing lifejackets. Three people escaped injury but Mr Munro was flown to Grey Base Hospital with serious chest injuries, and died there on Saturday.
