Man dies after hit-and-run

A man injured in a hit and run in Auckland has died.

Michael James Ritchie, 24, was hit by a car while walking on the footpath alongside Edmonton Road, Te Atatu, on Tuesday night.

Police said he died in Auckland Hospital two days later.

A 20-year-old woman has been charged with traffic offences and was released on bail after appearing in Waitakere District Court.

Police said further charges had not been ruled out and the woman would be reappearing on June 24.
