A man admitted to Hawke's Bay Hospital with stab wounds and head injuries last week has died and a teenager now faces a murder charge.
Paul Carrodus, 44, was one of three Napier men admitted to hospital after a confrontation in the suburb of Onekawa about 7pm last Tuesday.
He died in hospital on Saturday morning and a post mortem to determine the cause of death was to be held in Wellington today, the Hawke's Bay Today newspaper reported.
Two men, one of whom was also injured in the confrontation, were arrested and charged with assault.
One of those men, an 18-year-old, faced an upgraded murder charge when he appeared today in Napier District Court.
He was remanded in custody to reappear for a bail application hearing on Thursday.
Police have not discounted the possibility of more arrests.
