Police have named a teenager who died after falling from a motorway overbridge in south Auckland this morning.
The man was Marlon Darius Wilson, 19, from south Auckland.
Constable Colin Nuttall of the police serious crash unit said Mr Wilson was seen near the Reagan Road bridge over the southern motorway in Manukau City about 3.30am.
"The man then climbed the rail on the northern side of the bridge. He jumped onto the left northbound lane. He died at the scene," Mr Nuttall said.
Earlier reports suggested he was hit by a northbound vehicle after his fall.
The motorway was closed following the fatality and was reopened at 6.30am.
Police are appealing to any motorists who may have seen a Polynesian male wearing blue shorts, a dark t-shirt and no footwear near the bridge about 3.30am to contact them.
