Man dies after fall from Hamilton car park

A man has died after a fall from a car park building in central Hamilton this morning.

The incident happened at the busy intersection of Anglesea St and Ward St around 8am, police said.

"Cordons are currently being established around the area and officers are working to establish what has occurred," Senior Sergeant Juliet Burgess, of the Waikato District Command Centre, said.

"Initial indications at this point are that a man has fallen from a car park building."

Ambulance staff rushed to his aid, but the man had suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene, Ms Burgess said.

Cordons are in place and diversions are being set up, she said. Commuters are being urged to avoid the CBD and warned to expect delays in the area.
