Man dies after crashing BMW

A man is dead after losing control of his BMW car on a sharp bend and colliding with a parked car in Whangarei today.

Police said the crash happened about 10.20am near the intersection of Pipiwai and Matarau roads.

The 39-year-old man, who has not yet been named, died at the scene.

No other people were involved and the Northland serious crash unit and Whangarei police were investigating.
