Man dies after confrontation outside bar

Police have launched a homicide investigation after a man died outside a Blenheim bar after a confrontation in the early hours of this morning.

Police said Cedric George Joyce, 36, died in the courtyard area of the Copper Bock bar at about 1.00am.

They have identified and spoken to the other people involved in the fight and are appealing to anyone who was at the bar and saw what happened to contact them.
The man was a New Zealander who had returned from Australia to visit Blenheim.

No other details were immediately available.
