Canterbury police are investigating the death of a man after his car caught fire yesterday afternoon.
The man, who was in his mid-60s was found by emergency services at 2.45pm near Waddington, 12km north west of Darfield, wandering around his car suffering from smoke inhalation and burns.
Canterbury assistant fire region commander Mark Chubb said the man collapsed and died at the scene.
Police said they were not treating the death as suspicious.
