A man has died after a car crash in Taneatua on Sunday morning.
Sergeant Ray Wylie said the driver has been named as Kari Hauwaho, 42, of Ruatoki.
He said the crash happened at 2am and Mr Hauwaho was taken to hospital where he later died.
The Whakatane Police serious crash unit is investigating the cause of the crash and the death has been referred to the coroner.
