A man died last night after being shot at close range during a fight between several males in the Hamilton suburb of Melville.
Emergency services were called to an address on Norrie St around 6.20pm.
A St John spokeswoman said the victim, in his 20s or 30s, was taken to Waikato Hospital in a critical condition.
Police said late last night that he had died.
They said they had secured the scene of the shooting and were speaking to a number of people as part of their homicide investigation.
