A 37-year-old man was stabbed to death in Otara, Auckland, last night with two cars seen speeding from the scene.
Police believe the man was attacked outside 198 Preston Road around 11.30pm.
St Johns Ambulance staff treated the man at the scene but were unable to save him.
Both cars seen driving off after the attack contained several occupants.
A large Polynesian woman was spotted in the front passenger seat of a red, late model Holden saloon with a spoiler. The other vehicle was an older model silver Subaru with a roof rack.
They headed along Preston Road towards the East Tamaki area.
Counties-Manukau Police want to hear from anyone with information on the attack or who saw the vehicles which may have been driven erratically.
Police did not name the victim but said he was thought to be a family man who lived in Otara.
A post mortem was to be carried out today.
