A man is dead after being involved in an alcohol-fuelled brawl at a Waikato property yesterday.
Emergency services were called to the Queen Street address in Thames about 4.30pm, after a 49-year-old man collapsed, Acting Detective Inspector Ross McKay of Waikato CIB said.
"At this point investigators are working to piece together the sequence of events but initial indications are that four people had been drinking at the address for the majority of the day when a dispute broke out between a number of the parties.
"Our victim suffered trauma to the head and fell to the ground, unconscious."
Attempts were made to revive the man, but he was flown in a critical condition to Waikato Hospital, where he died a few hours later.
