A Wairarapa man killed yesterday when he was crushed by a crate of glass has been named.
Richard Neil Strom, 56, died after he got pinned between two crates at his glass wholesaler business in Greytown, south of Masterton, about 5pm yesterday.
A colleague and two men from a neighbouring business eventually freed Mr Strom, but his injuries proved fatal.
Acting Senior Sergeant Carolyn Watson of Masterton police said the Department of Labour was investigating and the matter would be referred to the coroner.
She said the incident was a "tragic accident that has resulted in the loss of life of a popular family man".
