A worker crushed by a falling concrete slab at Christchurch's Lyttleton port yesterday has died.
The man had been working with a crew demolishing a cargo shed on Cashin Quay at the port at around 1.30pm yesterday when the slab fell and pinned him.
He was working for an off-site contractor but Lyttleton Port Company Ltd chief executive Peter Davie today told NZPA the man had died in Christchurch Hospital last night.
Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) service manager Margaret Radford said an OSH inspector had visited the site and the accident would be fully investigated.
