KEY POINTS:
A man is in a critical condition in hospital after being dragged under a car in a hit-and-run incident last night.
Christchurch police said the 29-year-old was run over on Stevens Street, Phillipstown, about midnight after an altercation between two groups who had been at party.
Detective Sergeant Greg Cottam said the man was understood to have suffered head injuries, broken legs and a collapsed lung, was well as lacerations and grazing.
He was due to undergo surgery this morning.
Mr Cottam called for information on the events leading up to the hit-and-run, the identity of those involved or the vehicles seen leaving the scene.
