An elderly Auckland man is in a critical condition in Auckland hospital after driving off the road this afternoon.
The man's car was seen to veer off the road and roll after striking a wall on Elstree Avenue in Glen Innes. Bystanders gave medical assistance until ambulance staff arrived.
St John Ambulance suspect the man had a heart attack before he crashed and had to be resuscitated at the scene.
The man was the sole occupant of the car and no other vehicles were involved.
Police serious crash staff are processing the scene.
