A 39-year-old man shot in an early morning incident in Gisborne is not dead, as previously reported.
Police said this morning the man had died in hospital as a result of his injuries, however new information shows he is still alive and fighting for his life.
The man remain's in a ``very serious and critical'' condition, police said.
Police and ambulance staff were called to an address in Te Hapara early this morning following a shooting incident.
Three people were speaking with police about the incident. No one else is being sought in relation to it.
