A man is in critical condition after a two car crash on State Highway 2 in the Hauraki District, police said.
Both lanes of the highway are blocked and covered in oil near the suburb of Netherton.
Diversions are in place directing all north-bound traffic to turn right into Captain Cook Road. South-bound traffic is being directed left into Wharepoa Road.
Police anticipate traffic flow to resume to normal in the next hour.
The man will be flown to Waikato hospital for treatment to his hip.
