A man is in a critical condition after a near drowning in the Coromandel.
Ambulance crews are treating the man and Auckland Westpac Helicopter is on its way to the incident.
It took place in Whangamata, on the southeast coast of the Coromandel Peninsula, just before 1.30pm said a St John northern communications spokeswoman.
Police are also at the scene.
