A man is being air-lifted to Whangarei Hospital in a critical condition after he became pinned under his work-truck.
Police responded to the call just before 4.30pm, at the intersection of Pouto and Otara Point roads, in the town of Te Kopuru, south of Dargaville.
Paramedics had to stabilise the man so fire crews could free him from under the back wheel of his utilities truck.
Northland Electricity Rescue Helicopter pilot Peter Davies says the man is conscious but it is not yet known how he came to be under the truck.
He says he is in a lot of pain but in much better shape than he should be considering a truck has just rolled on him.
