A 28-year-old man is in critical condition after allegedly being stabbed in the chest by his partner in Kawerau on Friday night.
Bay of Plenty district command centre Senior Sergeant Karl Konlechner said it was a domestic related incident and the man is currently in critical condition with a life threatening injury.
Police have arrested his 32-year-old partner, who faces a charge of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The man was transferred to Waikato hospital after being admitted into Whakatane hospital.
The woman is in custody and is set to appear in court next Wednesday.
