KEY POINTS:
A drunk driver crashed into Dunedin Casino early today, police say.
Senior Sergeant Craig Brown of Dunedin police said the man tried to drive the wrong way down a one way street and crashed into the Southern Cross Hotel, on the corner of Princess St and High St, about 2am.
The front half of the car ended up inside an entrance to the hotel, in which Dunedin Casino is based, Mr Brown said.
The crash was not intentional, he said.
"[It was] just as a result of poor driving and consumption of a large amount of alcohol."
No one was injured.
A 30-year-old Dunedin man has been charged with dangerous driving and driving with excess breath alcohol.
He blew a reading of more than 1000 micrograms per litre of breath, about two and a half times the legal limit, Mr Brown said.
