KEY POINTS:
A police car chase ended this afternoon when a driver fled North Shore police and crashed two minutes later badly damaging a parked vehicle.
Senior Sergeant Matt Broderick said a man aged in his early 20s refused to stop his car for police in Northcote on Auckland's North Shore after they spotted him driving without registration plates.
Mr Broderick said the man fled about 1.15pm, but crashed into an unoccupied parked car less than two minutes later.
He said the offender cut the front of his head on impact because he wasn't wearing his seatbelt.
Police arrested the man on driving offences.
Mr Broderick said the other vehicle was badly damaged and would likely be written off.
