Man crashes after fleeing police

A man is in custody after fleeing police and crashing his car in Hamilton last night.

The incident happened on Callum Brae Drive about 10.15pm after the 25-year-old man sped away from a police vehicle and crashed his Subaru car a short distance away.

Senior Sergeant Gillian Meadows said the man was admitted to Waikato Hospital with minor injuries and later discharged into police custody.

He was expected to appear in Hamilton District Court tomorrow on a charge of breaching his bail conditions, not to consume alcohol.

Ms Meadows said other charges would be laid pending blood alcohol results.
