A 21-year-old has been convicted of wounding a man by stabbing him in the neck in Muriwai this year.
William Nicholas Cameron, of Huapai, pleaded guilty at the Auckland High Court this morning to wounding the man with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
He also admitted recklessly damaging the Muriwai camping ground gates, which are the property of Auckland Council.
Cameron was remanded on bail until sentencing in November after his lawyer submitted his father was "seriously ill" and his mother had flown over from Australia for the appearance.
Police said the victim suffered a "deep stab wound" to his neck on January 9 and was taken to Auckland City Hospital in a critical but stable condition.
