Man convicted in anti-smacking case to appeal

The Christchurch man convicted of assaulting his child will appeal his sentence.

Jimmy Mason assaulted his four-year-old son in December 2007 by punching his face and pulling his ear.

He was sentenced to nine months' supervision and will attend intervention classes such as anger management.
