A man who says he was "sleep-driving" when he allegedly crashed a car into a Wairarapa property last year has made a brief appearance in court today.
Masterton man Darryl Donald James Cox, 34, has pleaded not guilty to driving with excess blood alcohol and driving while holding a revoked licence.
It is alleged that early on on November 15 last year, Cox was driving down French St in Masterton and missed the corner, smashing through the wooden fence of Roberts Rd resident Vicki Thompson's property, destroying a goldfish pond and ripping up the lawn and gardens.
Emergency services allegedly found Cox unconscious and cut him out of the Subaru Legacy.
Cox had said he was "sleep-driving" and said he was asleep at the wheel after taking sleeping pills.
