A man has been charged with murder after the death of a woman in an apparent domestic incident in the Bay of Plenty last week.
Louana "Arni" Raukawa, 38, a mother of six, was found dead at her home in Kaingaroa, 50km southeast of Rotorua, about 10.15pm on Friday.
A 33-year-old man appeared before Rotorua District Court on Saturday, charged with assault.
He had now been charged with her murder, police said today.
He would reappear in court tomorrow.
Most of the police inquiries surrounding Ms Raukawa's death had been completed, police said.
They thanked the Kaingaroa community for their help and support.
