A 26-year-old man was to appear in Wanganui District Court this afternoon charged with the murder and sexual violation of barmaid Tania McKenzie, Wanganui police said in a statement.
Ms McKenzie's naked body was found floating in the Whanganui River on January 7, her 20th birthday.
About 40 police worked on the murder investigation.
