The man charged with a violent murder on the Kapiti Coast over the weekend has appeared in court.
Catherine Stewart, 56, was found dead at her home in Otaihanga on Saturday.
Police say it was clear to the attending officers she had suffered a violent death.
A 29-year-old man, known to the victim, appeared in the Porirua District Court this morning charged with murder.
A police spokesman said the man was remanded in custody to reappear in the High Court at Wellington on March 9.
