Name suppression on a man charged with the murder of his seven-month old daughter was lifted today.
Kevin Joseph Charles Little, 27, was arrested at his family home in Kaitangata, near Balclutha, yesterday.
He is charged with the murder of Alyssa Patricia Little-Murphy.
Little's arrest at a house in South Otago followed an investigation by Nelson police after the baby was found dead in the bath at her Nelson home on March 25.
Police initially did not treat her death as suspicious but Detective Senior Sergeant Wayne McCoy, of Nelson, said further investigations, including expert advice, led to the arrest.
Little appeared before Judge John Macdonald in Dunedin District Court judge this morning.
Applications by the media to film him were not opposed by his lawyer, so he could see no reason to continue with name suppression, Mr Macdonald said.
The matter has been stood down while the bail application is considered.
Details of the bail application have been suppressed.
