A man has been charged with attempted kidnapping after allegedly trying to pull a young person into his vehicle in the Christchurch suburb of Sydenham.
Detective James Bourne said the incident happened on January 2 around 3pm on the northern end of Tennyson St.
That same day a police spokeswoman said they were investigating after a young person reported a man made a “suspicious approach” and allegedly tried to get them into his vehicle.
The youngster got away unharmed and told their parent about the incident, which was reported to police an hour later.
