KEY POINTS:
Police in Christchurch have arrested a 43-year-old man and charged him with the attempted abduction of a seven-year-old girl in the suburb of Linwood on July 1.
Police earlier said the girl was asleep in the lounge when she was lifted by an intruder and taken outside at about 3am.
Her screams woke other people staying at the house and caused the man to let go of her and leave the property.
The arrested man is due to appear in Christchurch District Court on July 23.
