KEY POINTS:
A 38-year-old man is due to appear in court today for allegedly attacking a boy in a Porirua shopping mall yesterday.
Police said the man was seen throwing the four-year-old into the front of a car at the North City mega centre yesterday afternoon and punching him several times, The Dominion Post reported.
Senior Sergeant Tony Smith said the extent of the boy's injuries were not known.
The man would appear in Porirua District Court this morning charged with assault.
