Police launched a manhunt after a Nelson man reported being attacked, stabbed and thrown off the yacht in Queen Charlotte Sound on Tuesday night, Fairfax Media reported.
The man reportedly swam to shore and spent the night in some bushes before walking to a lodge yesterday morning.
Armed Offenders Squad officers arrested the 53-year-old accused at about 8pm yesterday.
He will appear in Blenheim District Court today charged with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and threatening to kill.
