A 21-year-old Wellington man was remanded on bail after he appeared in Wellington District Court today charged in connection with assaulting of a taxi driver on Anzac Day.
The Johnsonville suburb man faced one charge of injuring with intent to rob and was remanded on bail with strict conditions to reappear on December 22, Detective Sergeant Mike Priston said.
The alleged assaulted occurred on April 25, when two men caught a taxi from Johnsonville to nearby Woodland Road.
"Police allege the taxi driver was then assaulted and attempts were made to steal cash from the driver," Mr Priston said.
The taxi driver lost control of his vehicle and crashed. He was treated for injuries at the scene.
