Man charged over rest home assaults

A 55-year-old man has been arrested and charged with the sexual assault of several residents at a Blenheim retirement home.

David Neale appeared in the Blenheim District Court on six charges of sexual assault and three charges of unlawful sexual connection, relating to residents of Redwoodtown retirement home who were aged between 54 and 90.

Police were informed of the accusations by the manager and since the man's arrest, one of the victims has died.

Neale is due to reappear in court on May 3.
