Man charged over King Country killing

A 20 year-old man has been arrested and charged with murder after a woman was found dead in the King Country.

Detective Senior Sergeant Pete van Wetering said the woman's body showed signs of being beaten.

She was found in a Benneydale house on Saturday.

Mr van Wetering said the man appeared in the Hamilton District Court yesterday afternoon.

Police have named the woman as 20 year-old Wini Miria Te Maia McLean and her body has been released to whanau.
