Man charged over fatal Wairarapa crash

A 21-year-old man has been charged over the death of a young woman in a fatal car crash in Wairarapa in January.

Aimee Maree Wilson, 23 of Masterton, died instantly when the vehicle the man was driving hit a power pole near the intersection of Mikimiki Road and State Highway 2, Masterton, shortly before midnight on January 12.

A 21-year-old woman and 20-year-old man were also seriously injured.

The driver, who was not hurt in the crash, had been charged with driving with excess breath alcohol causing death and two counts of driving with excess breath alcohol causing injury, police said today.

He was due to appear in Masterton District Court on Monday.
