Police have charged a man over the death of young Rotorua woman in a crash in south Waikato at the weekend.
Whitney Morgan Robertson, 23, was killed when a car in which she was a passenger was hit by a 4WD on State Highway 30, south of Tokoroa, shortly after 8pm on Sunday.
Detective Senior Sergeant David Harvey said today the driver of the 4WD, a 35-year-old man from Rotorua, had been charged with failure to stop and ascertain injury.
He would appear in Rotorua District Court on May 11.
Mr Harvey said further charges were likely.
The driver left the scene after the accident and was arrested the following morning.
Ms Roberston was one of three people to die on the roads over the weekend.
