A man has been charged with attempted murder after a shooting in the Bay of Plenty town of Whakatane during which another man was wounded in the leg.
Around 5.30 this afternoon, police arrested a 22-year-old man from Ruatoki, about 23km south of Whakatane. He will appear in Whakatane District Court tomorrow.
Monday night's shooting came after the death of 20-year-old TeRangi Tait Pouwhare Carroll, a Mongrel Mob member from Ruatoki, who was stabbed to death during a rolling brawl down Whakatane's main street.
Police say they are continuing their investigations into the shooting and there could be more arrests.
