A man has been charged after a woman was shot in the head has appeared in Manukau District Court this morning.
The woman needed surgery to remove the bullet from her skull after an incident at a home on Druces Rd, Manukau about 1.30am on Saturday.
The man's name was suppressed by the court. The appearance of the 60-year-old Tongan man was brief and he was remanded in custody until July 4.
He has been charged with common assault, although police have indicated more charges are likely.
The injured woman was rushed on Saturday to Middlemore Hospital where a CT scan revealed the bullet lodged in her head.
