A 20-year-old man has been arrested and charged with reckless driving, following a police chase on a Christchurch motorway this afternoon.
Police said they pursued a vehicle after it failed to stop after being signalled to do so in Addington about 1pm. The car chase ended in a crash.
One passenger, a female police officer, was treated for minor injuries to her arm as a result of the crash.
The man will appear in Christchurch District Court on Thursday, where he will be up on six charges including reckless driving, assault with a weapon and possession of drug utensils, police said.
State Highway 76 westbound, which was reduced to one lane, was now fully open.
